Ongoing Things

Unfiltered, in front of those who matter

Our version of social media, without the bad parts. Check out the features showcase → and get to know the app. We hope you love it as much as we do.

Get notified when we launch.

Different parts of our personalities are brought out in front of different groups of people. You may nerd out about a thing with your friends. Your colleagues, they wanna hear nothing about it.

Most of our IRL chats don't sound like we are scatterbrained. And we do not shout all the times, we sometimes whisper. Yet social media crams all your things into the timeline, a timeline shared amongst all your people.

Escape the timeline.

Start a thing in the app for each of your real-life things. Raising a child, developing a product, wandering the world... Those are things worth sharing.

Your things in the app are made up of chronological developments. Some you'll share with family, others with friends, and most, you'll never share with anyone. Some things will have frequent developments, others will be left alone for months on end. That's the reality of a complex human being.

Private by default. Designed for sharing with the people you know.

Visibility levels let you nerd out for fellow enthusiasts, and share only highlights for the rest.

Choose one of 3 free-to-name visibility levels for your developments: Family, Friends, and Almost-strangers. Family can see developments published for your Friends, but not the other way around. At the right visibility level, no information is too much information.

Moving to a new platform is usually a hassle, you gotta make all your people join you on the journey. We'll let them do their thing.

Your people can view your things without signing up. Open a portal then share the link with your people.

Once ready to sign up, they can ask to be notified when you add developments, and keep track of what they've seen already.

Chat outside the app. Wherever you do now. We won't be trying to slide into your DMs.

"Do Not Disturb" is on by default, with no way to turn it off.

Your people (and you) can choose to be notified "Rarely", "Occasionally", or "Regularly", and no more than once a day. No room for urgency, this can wait.

Data is not for sale. We collect it for one simple purpose - to enable the features you rely on, and maintain app stability.

Your data lives in the EU, and is automatically deleted (permanently) once you stop using the app. Our Privacy Policy covers this topic in more detail.

You pay to be served. That's it. No ads, no tracking, no dark patterns. No catch.

You can decide to pay after your 14-day trial ends.

We are a self-funded team from Berlin, Germany.

Tired from behavior tracking, ads shoving in faces, and advertiser-friendly-content-promoting algorithms of social media platforms, we built a new thing with none of those. A place where we get to share intimate moments, the real us, with people we love - and few distant "friends".

We don't like companies doing creepy stuff. Many of them sell our data for profit. We decided to just not do it. Who knew that was possible. We keep data in the EU, and protect it in any way we know.

Hundreds of people that pay keep us working every day. Millions and millions of people are not what the product needs to be "viable". We already love Ongoing Things and that's all there is to it.

Tricking people into wasting hours of their day in one app is not a thing we endorse. We do not engage in psychological warfare with our customers, we offer no eye candy. No notifications every few minutes - no! - you get one a day. Not a single person should spend hours a day here, ever. Let's live our lives, decompress, then share the news of our things with people we appreciate.

We welcome you, and hope you will like it here.
